Which Calendar function do you mean?
We have the Diary on the website (which has been there for over 2 years), not aware of anything else.
The Diary relies on members highlighting events which would be nice for club members to attend with the official club events highlighted (and linked to the appropriate event page).

ParticipantI bought 2 new tyres a couple of weeks back. Got the card at the weekend and have now topped up my Amazon account rather than use it for fuel (it does seem a bit hit and miss as to which Garages will bother with these swipe cards). At least Amazon make it nice & easy!
The wife had one last year, used it once in our local Shell garage with no problem, next time she tried to use it there the guy behind the till refused it.
It is largely about training in the garages about these types of swipe & sign cards.
ParticipantTony has very kindly ‘volunteered’ to help with Instagram, as he says we are having a few challenges with multiple administrators (nothing is ever simple) but I am sure we will have that sorted at some point, so bear with us.
We will also try to link it to the club Facebook account, but we have some issues to iron out there too (not just technical).
At some point when we ready we will update what the ongoing plans will be.
I have taken a few ‘random’ images from my collection built up over the years just to get things going (mostly taken with my digital SLRs so have worked out to post from my laptop to save emailing to my phone to post!).
To answer Jon’s post, absolutely, only as ‘Add Ons’ to the existing media/publications the Club has.
Also as Tony says ‘we ought to get out more’!

ParticipantWhatsApp has been discussed many times and if we were to trial it, it needs someone to volunteer (as Chris says) to manage the initial ‘flurry’ of interest in adding mobile numbers to the group and also to keep an ‘eye’ on it. Too often they become a vehicle (no pun intended!) for just circulating the latest jokes doing the rounds.
I am in a number of WhatsApp groups, and to be honest they are too many – I struggle to keep up with them. I do not spend all my time on social media and cannot be bothered to keep scrolling back through the messages when many get posted in a short space of time.
I am sure it will suit some and I can see the benefit of an Event Organiser setting one up to get messages across to members before an Event, during and after when members may post images of their experiences. I have seen this aspect work fairly well, but you need the Event Organiser to be willing to do it. Of course, after time it just degenerates into general joke circulation and the group should be deleted after a suitable time period.
In short, we need 1 (or more) members to volunteer to be Admins and/or take on a Social Media role for the club…

Nothing about when E5 fuels will change yet, imagine that will be a way off.
The FBHVC have recently clarified their position on E10 fuels following the recent government updates.
After an extensive consultation process, the Department for Transport has announced that they will legislate to introduce E10 petrol as the standard 95-octane petrol grade by 1 September 2021. They will also require the higher-octane 97+ ‘Super’ grades to remain E5 to provide protection for owners of older vehicles. This product will be designated as the ‘Protection’ grade.
The introduction of the 95-octane E10 grade and the maintenance of the Super E5 protection grade will be reviewed by the Government after 5 years to ensure they remain appropriate to the needs of the market. In relation to the E5 protection grade, such a review will examine market developments over the period. HM Government have sought to reassure FBHVC members and historic vehicle owners that, without a suitable alternative becoming available, it is highly likely the Super E5 protection grade would continue to be available.
Filling stations that stock 2 grades of petrol and supply at least one million litres of fuel in total each year, will need to ensure one product is the Super E5 protection grade. While not all filling stations meet these criteria, almost all towns across the UK will have a filling station that supplies the ‘Super’ grade and currently one major retailer, a national supermarket group, has committed to offer the product. The main exception to this is in certain parts of the Highlands, north and west coast of Scotland, which will be covered by an exemption process and allowed to continue to market the 95-octane E5 grade.
The Federation therefore recommends that all vehicles produced before 2000 and some vehicles from the early 2000s that are considered non-compatible with E10 – should use the Super E5 Protection grade where the Ethanol content is limited to a maximum of 5%. To check compatibility of vehicles produced since 2000, we recommend using the new online E10 compatibility checker: https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-e10-petrol
It should be noted that some Super E5 Protection grade products do not contain Ethanol as the E5 designation is for fuels containing up to 5% Ethanol. Product availability varies by manufacturer and geographical location and enthusiasts should check the situation in their location.
ParticipantUsed batteries concern me too, and the Cobalt element especially as a large percentage is mined in the DRC. The child labour & human rights problems in the mining there are not good (to say the least) and it is a particularly unstable country (despite Belgium trying to make up for the many, many wrongs they inflicted there in the past).
It seems to me the ‘youth of today’ now regard cars as disposable items (along with everything else). The proportion of kids with their Adams, Zoes (and whatever other silly names there are out there) who would know basic mechanics is falling.
I wonder what the ‘shelf life’ of some of these cars is now? In theory they should last for years in terms of bodywork & reliability, and I imagine must all be full of highly recyclable components – which is good, but the energy expended in recycling as opposed to extending the life of the vehicles must be immense.

ParticipantAgree with Tony, more often than not a ‘battery re-set’ does the trick for this assuming your battery is in good condition.
Be aware, as Tony says, if your car is a late version it will have the battery isolator switch (big round knurled switch in the battery compartment which rotates through 90 deg), some owners are not aware of it and are surprised when I show it to them…
Must find out sometime from which VIN the isolator was fitted…

I get the same issue occasionally when I look at the Forum on my phone – I go to the forum and click on a topic and it asks me to login and I get the same merry go round. Never had it on my laptops though.
To get around it I make sure I have logged out of the website, clear cache and then log back in.
Yours could well be cache related, so worth clearing your cache if you get it again.

Agree with Chris, you would do well spending an hour or two with one of the Specialists local to you.
Depending where you live, there are Specialists who would happily spend time with you to do an inspection and take you through and explain the features of the car. This may then give you the confidence to also use them, potentially, for ongoing servicing etc.

Assume you have a full set of manuals with the car (you can download some from the ‘Resources’ section if required Manuals for cars 2007 onwards)
