I have heard of others with a similar problem in a 3200, and the solution Roger identified fixed it for them.
Can’t imagine Roger ever ‘turning a car briskly to the left’ though ๐Ÿ˜‰

That may be worth following up.
We would have to think carefully about how we group models, as ‘Classic Maserati’ would be a little vague here…..

Mick, Have you had any updates from Maserati since your communications with them late last year?

I have a 3200, so similar headlight shape (although yours may be self leveling xenons?). I have yet to find any deflectors that fit properly.

What I have done in the past is drive the car up close to a wall or garage door, turn on the headlights and look for where the light ‘kicks’ up to the left, then use electrical tape (silver or reflecting) just to cover that bit (which is what will ‘dazzle’ oncoming traffic when driving on the right).

There is ‘noise’ on the internet saying this method is illegal, but the countries we have driven seem to state your legal requirement is ‘not to dazzle oncoming traffic’, and not how you achieve this – up to you to decide on how comfortable you would be with this solution.

There is also ‘noise’ saying the tape could ‘heat up’ the plastic headlight cover, hence I have used silver tape to reflect and not absorb.

The other key thing to remember is if you were unlucky enough to have an accident, and it was proved your lights could have been dazzling oncoming traffic, you may find your insurance is invalidated.

We have used the car many, many times whilst driving in Europe (and in the dark), and had no one flash us, and no damage to our headlight covers.

Interesting to see Switzerland has introduced the ‘Headlights on’ law since 2014 (we were last there in the 3200 in 2011)

“Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way”

Would suggest getting those Masers sooner rather than later ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Graeme, and welcome to the Club!!
The nearest Independent Specialists to you are Autoshield (http://www.autoshieldmaserati.co.uk 465, Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton-Cum-Hardy, Manchester. M21 8AU), who are well known to many Club members, and the Owner Marios is a Club Member, and the Supercar Centre (http://supercar-centre.co.uk The Supercar Centre. Unit 5 Warren Street, Sheffield. S4 7WT).

PS I have changed your car in the Club Directory, as it was listed as a QPIV, and it is most definitely a QPV! Enjoy it, they are great cars!

If you have added a car, and then you then want to delete it, you will need to contact the Webmaster with the reason for deleting it.
So, yes, it can be done.

It’s a fair comment! Once you own one, you MUST have more! I had a QPV which I loved, but had to sell it with the move to Brussels (only space for 1 Maser in the UK garage).
Would still like a Merak…. One day!!!!
