  • in reply to: Ghibli – Transmission Error Message #11420

I had a QP which started sending error messages and was playing up moving form Drive to Parking etc. Please note this was not a new Ghibli but you never know- I disconnected the battery for 30 mins reconnected and it all went right! My logic was a reset – the problem never came back so maybe worth a try if you haven’t already?

10 years time – Totally electric on shared platforms from the parent group.

Electronically chip controlled everything e.g. GPS based speed restricted throttle.

Looking at the legislation coming in or proposed what other chance  is there ?

Unless a small independent producer and even this is “interim”?

    Graham

The Mini is outside all the time so we will see!

The GTechniq was put on at the dealers premises  -but by the GTechniq technician for my area. He goes to the dealer to do each car  and also to effect any repairs within the warranty period. The dealers resident cleaners do some prep work before he arrives.

So it its all going to be rather interesting i.e. “the test of time” so to speak

in reply to: AutoGlym Lifeshine and GTechniq and ? on your Maser #11325

Traded in old aMini nd just got a new one delivered–3 door hatch- part of the deal was AutoGlym Lifeshine valid for lifetime of ownership. Nothing  to report other than it doesn’t cover wheels or windscreen. So as the weeks and months go by it will be interesting to see how it performs.

My  GranTurismo , one year old last month has had GTechniq done valid for 5 years  so again will see if its any good.

As most of you will prob know these dealer add on that they love to sell are VERY negotiable on price and its quote amazing how you can get the price down from the original asking price. Same with Gap insurance and tyre insurance and……

I will report progress periodically Here’s hoping they both  do half what they are  supposed to!

There are other manuals here and later supplements – i know very little of this model but perhaps there is something here for those who know the model

If you go to this one and back to carnet the others are closely in the list. Downloadable free.

in reply to: Gransport locking wheel nuts #11223

I had a new Gransport delivered  in 2006 and it did not come with locking nuts Also the dealer advised NOT to put them on –Reason -As Graham pointed out above

in reply to: 4200 Coupe side/parking lights #11210

From memory -On the old Duoselect the control unit plugged in at the rear of the actual headlight assembly on the passenger side- could it be the same on the 4200 as they are same age of car.  OR perhaps right hand side ?

in reply to: Maserati at Goodwood Festival of Speed #11193

I have watched quite bit as well and also heard nothing about Maserati.  Seemed to spend alot of time around the Mini stand — rain this morning didn’t help viewing .

Not sure if this is good, bad, or doesn’t matter news.

I drove a Cygnet in a test drive when they were around.  Brought back memories of my fathers’ Leyland  Allegro Van Den Plas — Wood, leather, thick carpets in a standard  Allegro body shell.

Actually he had it for nigh in 10 years- had no trouble and did well over 100,000 mile sin it.

Unlike most of the world he loved it !

So who knows where it would have led if it had happened

in reply to: Pirelli Pre-Paid Cards #10988

    Graham

Getting a one year old £300 + tyre can knock £60-£100 off a tyre. If you go to 2-3 years  i reckon it can be 50-60 %. you can get right back to 8-9 years sometimes on some tyres but i only go back 2-3 (so still the same life time  in it ) as i track a lot. Its all abit of luck but certainly works out more than its doesn’t. Saved me a fortune o PZERO CORSA Directional.

Tyre leader put the DOM on the website by each tyre. You prob noticed they also have new “ demo” tyres sometimes on which has a  few miles on them at reduced prices.

Anyway anything that keeps us safe and legal and saves a few bob is good.

Noticed you said you live under the Belge.Fr rules. I had the NL rules for nearly 30 years  before retiring back to UK

What a pallava  ( however you spell it).

I do admit that I am surprised the £50 Pirelli offer was worth taking up over buying via discount providers such as TyreLeader and Camskill. Guess you did the numbers before doing  it. I use the online discount alot  and pay £15 a rim locally to fit and get the tyres with a D.O M. that is is one or two years back as they reduce dramatically and mine never last more than a year  – well 6months really ( track time does them in).

Certainly the info is useful to know what might happen and how to avoid or minimise the hastle after all £50 is a worthy discount

I am going on friday but going home after as only live an hour away.

When I do stay there my preference is Silverstone Golf club which I think is good value and comfortable.

Would be happy to join in a beer etc  before going home
