I’ve found that all the switches and buttons on my 3200GTA were ‘sticky’ and have removed and cleaned them all over a period of a year or so. My wife delved into her domestic cleaning materials box and tried many products but the one that finally worked the best was ‘The Pink Stuff’ a pink coloured cleaning paste. It takes a bit of effort but works well in the end – much better than white spirit or meths. Needs plenty of water to wash off and wipe dry properly hence the need to remove them before cleaning. Worth the effort as all items are still sticky free and hopefully will remain so!

Hi Frank, Thanks for your input re the grille removal. I haven’t had chance to have another go at it yet – probably at the weekend. I must admit I’m rather nervous about messing with these pesky bullet spring clip things as they seem to be rather delicate! Wish me luck! Regards, Paul.

Thanks for your helpful advice Tony. The video is interesting but doesn’t show exactly how the grill was removed. Altho mine is now detached at the top, it doesn’t move very much . I’m worried if I try to giggle it about too much it may damage the plastic bumper to which it seems to be attached along the bottom.
