Does anyone know how to remove the front grill of the 3200GTA? I’ve undone the four screws in the upper part of the chrome surround but it still seems to be fixed along the bottom where the trident is afixed. Is the mascot fixed through the bumper? I can’t see underneath how this is fixed. My aim is to remove the trident mascot in order to have it re-chromed. Grateful for any help/suggestions. Thanks.
Hi Paul, I’ve removed the grill to change the trident. This is all from memory & I’ll try to see if I can find any instructions/photos.
Once you have removed the screws there are I think four bullet type connectors, these have to be pulled but be very careful they don’t break as after all these years they might be brittle. I broke one and it was a pain to fix.
Thanks for your helpful advice Tony. The video is interesting but doesn’t show exactly how the grill was removed. Altho mine is now detached at the top, it doesn’t move very much . I’m worried if I try to giggle it about too much it may damage the plastic bumper to which it seems to be attached along the bottom.
Hi Paul, The bottom of the grille is held in place with 4 spring bullet spring clips. These do tend to corrode, so its a case of gently pulling on the bottom of the chrome grille surround until they release. The four springs are visible through the mesh, try spraying some plus gas on them overnight to help ease the rust.
Hi Frank, Thanks for your input re the grille removal. I haven’t had chance to have another go at it yet – probably at the weekend. I must admit I’m rather nervous about messing with these pesky bullet spring clip things as they seem to be rather delicate! Wish me luck! Regards, Paul.
