Sorry to hear about your problems, first of all do a battery reset and see if this clears any gremlins. Also how old is your battery as a weak one will cause havoc. If you have a tester see how many volts it give out.

Otherwise you will need a diagnostic check, if you go down this route let us know where you are geographically as there may be an independent garage nearby with the necessary diagnostics.

I remember a friend had a canvas roof that shrunk a little bit, he used to put warm not hot towels that were slightly damp not wet across the roof. He warmed them up in a microwave.

I think the above is a temporary solution as there will always be shrinkage over time.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Have a look at this thread, I helped a friend remove his, took us 3 hours, it then went to the paint shop and we refitted it.

Personally I don’t have the time for posting on some of the social media sites. I have limited myself to a few that I use regularly.

The Facebook page is a good idea, however it really requires someone to take ownership and post regularly otherwise it will not get used very much if the content is always out of date.

I also used to do a battery reset on my 3200 for all sorts of electronic issues, most of the time it solved these. I would also test your battery, our cars don’t behave well if the battery is on its way out.

If the issue still persists a diagnostic reader would be needed, however you can go to an indie and have it read first for about £80.00 if there is one near you.

Glad to hear you located the issue and fixed it Frank also thanks for posting your observations. This should help other owners to fix or eliminate their own problems.

Not aware of anyone doing this Lee other than having some instruction on the official track days. Might be worth asking around on Sunday at Brands Hatch.

Thanks, I’ve used Greg before and he has always been helpful.

Also David Askew can source and refurbish parts, he has refurbished a lot for me. http://www.davidaskew.co.uk.

You could try having a look at the diagrams on eurospares https://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/maserati/4200-coupe/all/front-passengers-compartment-control-station-20204/170762

There is a plastic clip that holds the cushion down, as you can see it will probably break when you pull up. I managed to get a similar one from eBay. The backrest should just pull away, I had to give a bit of a heave as it sits quite low so you sort of have to pull up and back in a jerk movement.

Hello, here are the photos from when I dis-connected the tracker, according to the diagrams it looks the same for the 3200, 4200 & GS.

    Best wishes

I used a Dremel to drill out from the front, being careful to mask up around. The grill needs to come out so you can remove the bolt from the underneath , a bit fiddly if you have large hands but long arms will help. If you get stuck let me know & I’ll try to find a link for a how to.

I purchased my Gransport bonnet badge from eurospares, give them a call, the part number I ordered was 670101565 with postage and vat £18.40. Quality was the same as the one I replaced, took me about 30 mins to fit.
