ParticipantI would call that a result ! Good to hear of what is really a goodwill gesture. I am sure this pays off in the long run as It restores one faith habit and would make me go back when/if needed on a commercial basis including servicing.
Also – there sounds like as suspected the fault wasn’t a fault per se just the software needing a clear out.

ParticipantMy Qp5 did this a couple of times and I took it to the dealer who said it happens and normally after using the car and leaving it it would just reset and clear and come back if it happens again
2 years later !! It did and I did the same thing – that was another 4 years. In between it had been dealer serviced twice and checked which showed nothing to be done. Ignored it after that and that was after car 8 years old.
obviously I can’t say that yours is the same but I have had two different QP 5 and they both have done this at some stage
you just want an independent with the diagnostics for a QP 5 – possibly McGraths or I am sure one of the others in this Forum will give you a name

ParticipantExiting the car lights — This is a programmable featurescontrolled through the Infotainment system . You can decide the time length . The details how to change it are in the Infotainment Manual which will have come with the car. One example is actually downloadable from this website in the Resources section/tab if you have lost it. Hope this is of help

ParticipantI had a 2006 Duoselect Sport GT from new for 5 years and then in 2011 i ordered a new Sport GTS in dark green delivery Jan 2011 which has been a joy. I have never found any complete books apart from the Factory Workshop Manual via the Maserati Technical site where you register and pay for a day access and download as much as you can in 24 hours and also there is a 3rd party DVD workshop manual you can download on the web.
If anyone finds out of any books would be interested to know.

ParticipantI had G Technic on an earlier GranTurismo I am not saying it didn’t work BUT I did have to use the Warranty twice in the first year where bird droppings ruined the coating very quickly. I checked every evening and it proved that from one day to the next was time enough to cause a problem. I traded it in after 18 months so cant report on longevity. The G Technic area manage in southern England was very helpful and they didn’t argue and rectified very quickly. It seemed to me from volume and visual observation that it was Seagulls rather than some other species that was the offending Genus.

ParticipantI didn’t know who the famous presenter gentleman they used was at all- generation problem i guess. Didn’t tell you much really in any depth and to be honest i was much more interested in the two side arrows at the beginning. One said MC20 Sept 9th and the other Trofeo — which i am assuming/ hoping might b the 58ohp 3.9V* going into both the Ghibli and QP.
You may have received as i did an invite yesterday from Maserati to a GranTurismo “ celebration” Trackday over 2 days in Italy later on this year. I would love to go but am very wary of flying off to Italy, staying overnight, socialising at the dinner , track etc. etc, and flying back in these troubled times. Might be too early to take that step yet.

reading the motoring press if correct we are also getting early August a facelift Ghibli Trofeo 3.8l 580 hp engined -same as the Levante Trofeo –and a QP 580HP . Coupek that with the MC20 and it is all quite a turnaround. Then it is also suggested apparently the next GT/GC is having the Nettuno engine detuned to 524HP but not till ?

Participanthttp://www.bridgeclassiccars.co.uk/bleeding-merak-lhm-system/
I have a memory of an owner saying you must use LHM fluid SPECIFICALLY formulated for Citroen cars and not anything else. I believe Millers/Opie do one.
The link is for a Merak but many a pointer in the comprehensive article.
Good Luck.

ParticipantThere are a number of entries on this topic on the SportsMaserati Forum website which include others experiences and solutions . These include references to a few independents who have dealt with this problem.together with prices This might be of help to you.
I read some of them and it would seem you are in for a grand or more if its just the valves or 3500-4500 if its the whole thing!

MMSA-radiocode website? No idea if its good

Participantyou prob know all this but…. good alternator should show 14.1-14.7v with the engine running from a multimeter on the battery terminals– if you load it by turning on the headlights ,switch on the fan full on and radio it shouldn’t change much– in any event should never go below 13v- if it drops then you have a prob. … and doesnt take long to do

ParticipantMemories of the sprung ratchet on a starter motor thrower?

ParticipantLong way to go to show us a few fuzzy orchestrated pictures mostly showing what has been seen before ? Hopefully we will get something better soon.

Participantat 1 minute 23 sec you can hear the MC20 engine as it goes to pass- i know all the writing so far is about a V6 but could that not be a V8. ??
On a separate note perhaps we should allow for the current problems and getting the Panini cars was all they could do ?
