ParticipantI had a QP5 Sport GTS 2011 for 7 years and had 4 sets of tyres on the rear. Initially I changed the first time with the recommended tyres with the MAS marking but the second change set were normal P Zero without MAS marking . To be honest I noticed no difference. The last set were the same and I bought some which were already 2 years old on the marking but new tyres, This saved alot of money. There are a few sites such as tyreleader.co.uk who sell now tyres and also note the DOM (date of manufacture) and if abit older they mark them down with delivery in the price. I paid £15 a corner to have them fitted. Saved ALOT.
My QP5 Duoselect i had before i had Pirelli originally but then actually put Vredestein on as they were much cheaper and had used them alot before when living mainland Europe. Again I didnt notice any difference in road driving.

ParticipantLee says he doesn’t see any Committee Members on here but I reckon that Graham and I are frequently posting on the Forum. Regarding Whats App i am afraid i wouldn’t use it as to be honest its yet ANOTHER …….. and also as previously mentioned its search method and then having to trawl makes you give up before you start. The forum maybe old fashioned in some eyes but like anything its as good and useful as we make it .
This does not mean that others cant use Whats App but i reckon it wouldn’t be used anymore than the Forum after an initial flurry t

I know the car and its mechanics very very well and could probably tell/show you most things but sounding unfriendly I was/am in a “vulnerable shielding category” and apart from going to hospital haven’t been out since March 6th this year !
Happy to help by email —but it could be a good idea to perhaps go to one of the independent specialists with the car and let them go over everything with you. There are a number around especially down south and it could well be that if you go to see one of them and they think you might bring the car to them after for servicing or any repairs they would spend some time with you for a “favourable sum”. I expect Graham and Lee will read this and they know the independents much better than I do and will probably point you in the right direction.
We have a couple of members who use their GT MC and MC Stradale on trackdays and i know one of them so will ask him to read the forum and see if he is up for it.

Was looking at the forum and only just seen this. as was changing my battery in my MacPro (an easy job which became a nightmare!) A little tardy but– I am a GT owner (my second) and having read your post was wondering what you were interested in finding out/learning.
I also had 2 QP cars before with the same engine and alot of same mechanics and can point you to various things. Graham has noted the manuals on the Club website but if not there we can probably join you where or get and post what you need.

ParticipantHalfords- website- paraphrasing but you can read it yourself– Cars made after 1998 +/- normally need antifreeze /coolant that uses silicate-free, organic acid technology (OAT). These types of antifreeze offer better corrosion protection so that parts don’t need to be changed as often. Cars made before 1998 usually need antifreeze that isn’t OAT-based and that does contain silicate.
I was always taught –Whilst colour isn’t always necessarily an indicator of chemistry PINK is generally OAT and BLUE not- AND not to be mixed together

Participantthanks – better keep away from South-West then- not that we can go anywhere much however– i come from Truro originally and go back whenever I can so ….I was worrying about rubber hoses and gaskets as well as anything performance and mechanically related.
