I’ve added videos for the trip over the Furka and Grimsel passes. Unfortunately the rear camera didn’t work for the Grimsel so the sound is a little muted in comparison to the others.

Interesting. Editing in text mode means that we get a preview in the post instead of just a text link.

I can imagine the roads in Tuscany, we were a little north of there last year and some of them were interesting to say the least. At one point we did end up on what appeared to be a track for a few hundred metres.

Stelvio was a little nerve wracking at times, especially as it was 2C and I was on summer tyres. Those Pirelli P-Zero’s don’t exactly have a good reputation in the cold and wet.

That’s a little odd. I’ve just tried it and it worked for me. I even logged out of YouTube to make sure I was accessing as a general user. Here is the link to the first video in the playlist https://youtu.be/046p4jHqtD0

Here is the list to the playlist proper https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL32qrYzDLrkivlSvqG8TATe9tP_qsABhr

I love the magazine, really look forward to it dropping through the letterbox. In this age of instant digital delivery its great to have something of quality arrive. I really like the paper-stock used it takes the magazine above the usual glossy magazine.

I’ve talked about the whole autonomous driving and personal pods with friends and colleagues. The problems we see with both are in sub-optimal road conditions. E.g. roads with faded markings, roads covered with water/snow/leaves. Whilst autonomous driving will become the norm in some cities and on major highways, once you get off those everything becomes much more difficult as things are less predictable.

Electric is a different matter, but we are still some way off this being a viable alternative for everyone,  especially in rural areas. I intend to run petrol engines for as long as I can. It’s what I’ve grown up with and whilst electric may be able to give me the acceleration it won’t feel or sound the same. Having said that I’m not averse to mild-hybridisation to assist with city driving and to boost the 0-60 times 😀

I assume so. I didn’t really take the time to work them out whilst I was driving.

It was around 8 am. I used having the test the camera setup as an excuse 😀

I was very pleased with the sound pickup from the exhausts. I hadn’t realised just how loud it was with the valves open.

First attempt with a camera on the bumper to capture the exhaust and some interesting angles https://youtu.be/-1JzSfiopuw

The bridge is Alwark Bridge in North Yorks.

I did some testing of a rear facing camera earlier. That should work well to give an alternative angle. It picks up the exhaust really well too.

    Hi Allan,

They will be the closest for you too.

Welcome to the Club. I’m just outside York, and take the odd trip out Beverly way, perhaps I’ll spot you at some point.

I’ve left it for now. Speaking to another dealer the map updates appear to still be quite old so I’ll probably wait for the next update. Hopefully the process will have been sorted by then.

Interestingly I know of someone else that is having issues with the same dealer around satnav issues. Based on that I’m going to contact the next two closest dealers and see if they’ve managed a successful update.

    Hi Graham,

I got a notification email too.

Unfortunately Dick Lovett is a little too far from me up here in York. I’m going to give the local dealer until the end of the month and then it looks like HG Owen in Stockport will be my best bet. It will mean losing at least half a day to get it done though.

Either that or I’m a boy racer 😉

I didn’t have any when I went last year but the new Ghibli does have lights that turn with the steering as well as being self-leveling. There is also a setting to switch over the bias from left to right for driving on the right.
