I feel maybe the clubs Facebook page isn’t pushed enough in the bi monthly Bulletin.

to illustrate this I was just trying to point out how few members (340) were actually following the club Facebook page.

It would be great to get more activity so I have put a couple of comments on old posts and some images from the classic motor show 2020.

tge weird thing is that even though I have always followed the page I didn’t get any notifications of the previous posts although most are pre 2019.

this forum isn’t user friendly in respect of uploading images so both Facebook & WhatsApp make that easy.

 

I was trying to cut-and-paste an image from my phone into this forum but find that is a very clunky and difficult thing to do.

you click on the insert image thumbnail and you are faced with having to give an address for the image et cetera instead of just been able to cut-and-paste into the forum.

I would have Whatsapped you if there is a such a verb ?with a charming short video of my juvenile attempts to get to this forum string, it has just taken me over 40 attempts to log on then it just did it ?, it was the same old groundhog day experience of the circular log in routine.

Anyway i digress.

I did hold my hand up and offer to manage a whatsapp group when I first suggested it to the committee a year or so ago but in their wisdom they decided it wasn’t what members might want and in their eyes they saw it as in infringement of privacy issue ?. There is also the down side as you can no doubt see, I am not the best at spelling nor grammar, I even spelt Grammar with an e! Writing in general is unfortunately not my forte and takes me an age, I blame Dyslexia and yes I had to use dictation ?.

I certainly do get your eloquent point regarding “descending into a forum for just circulating the latest jokes doing the rounds” and that is also a fear of mine, we all are starved of time without yet once again being expected to watch everyones idea of a great joke video AGAIN. You never know if the next one is the “best thing you have ever seen”, but obviously members are always free to bow out.  Its just that whatsapp is such a good medium and takes less disc space for images videos etc which can be very useful for demonstrating repairs techniques etc.

Images are easy to find again when you know how, they are after all just in the groups individual settings which you go to by just tapping the name of the group at the top, then chose media file. Subjects are a bit more difficult you can search for individual words easily with the search box but you have to search all of your groups so the word has to be VERY specific, once again this would be easily demonstrated in a whatsapp video ?

I will most certainly set one up for the Yorkshire Coast and Moors event in autumn and see how useful members find that.

Lee, I get your points but I would hope that WhatsApp is the perfect way to bring the club together rather than it being so disjointed, as you say there are cliques and will always be, I am a prime example being a proud member of the Yorkshire clique ?

In many ways forums are quite outdated however they are a good way to share technical info that may help others which is easy to find and use or add to.

I agree the forum should most definitely be kept because as you say Lee, it is a good source of reference especially for problems, where as WhatsApp you can only search by a word or words, then you have to trawl through all the messages which isn’t as convenient.

Just a Quick word of advice.

Obviously in the UK in most parts we suffer from low outdoor temperatures during winter and so after research for the reasons below in low tempurature properties I buy Desiccant dehumidifiers because the normal ones are mentb rto operate in homes but stop working below 3 degrees, which can be just at the  important time when condensation can be the most problomatic.

Importantly, the two technologies perform differently in the lower temperature range. Desiccant dehumidifiers are capable of operating in cold temperature conditions, as the silica gel desiccant still adsorbs moisture regardless of temperature.

Conversely, refrigerant dehumidifiers suffer a fall in water extraction at colder temperatures, as the dew point is harder to reach and condensation of moisture out of the cold air is more difficult to achieve.

I just answered my Own question!! ? just clicked on the subject line which I have done previously but this time it’s taken me through to the string I was looking for. I think it must’ve just been a quirk of my computer and its cache, when I’ve gone in and out of the page it has now corrected its self.

I have a carcoon installed inside my bigger garage which I have been very satisfied with, it has an internal frame which I think is imperative otherwise the rigmarole of driving in and out would have been frustrating and time consuming but I believe the carcoon outdoor hasn’t an internal frame? Mine also has a twin fan ventilation system which keeps my spyder bone dry even after driving it in wet but once again I am not sure the external one offers this so I would be concerned about the condensation. I would have presumed the car would have to be absolutely dry before sealing in unless there is an internal as well as the bubble ventilation system to keep the internal air circulating and therefore dry otherwise condensation in the car would be an obvious problem. It’s Worth asking Carcoon that specific question.

Another top tip which I initially ignored is to put matts over the zip you have to drive over otherwise the zips eventually become distressed and difficult.

Eventually got 4 all weather tyres from Greypaul Nottingham but now both the Pirelli and the Maserati home page link dont work?

I previoously logged into Pirelli and validated for the scheme with them but did not recieve a reply ( this link is now dead also)

 

So i live in fear of missing the boat, as per’
