Does anyone know how I can pin down which actuator is causing the intermediate ‘ERROR’ light on my year 2000 3200GT. The only thing I’m getting from the OBD is P1225, which I believe is ‘injection circuit cylinder 2’ Car runs well and sometimes the ERROR light can be off for a couple of weeks following reset (switch battery isolater on/off). They are very difficult access (particularly the rears) so I want to go for the right one.

    Morning Graham.

I have a Grancabrio that has a similar light – reads on the OBD as ‘fuel circuit A control pump open..’. Actually there is nothing wrong having connected to the Maserati OBD which is more sophisticated, plus observation. The guys at the shop said that there is a short somewhere – either nr the fuel pump or could be in the ICU. Either way, to find it might take an hour or 20. They advised leave and monitor. I just turn the light off using my OPD app now.

<p style=”text-align: right;”>Why do you think it’s actuator I’m sure on the 3200 this is related to throttle body.</p>
Are  you using unidiag or have you a later model with the standard OBD connection.

If it’s the actuator, I’ve borrowed one and tested by trial an error. Otherwise you can give Mike Roberts a call or email he is the expert on the 3200.

    Hi Graham

I have an OBD list for my 3200 and its related to the throttle body: P1225  Sensor position of butterfly circuit 1 [throttle body 3200GT specific]

I was getting this intermittently on mine a couple of years back. I had already changed to new throttle body and pedal pot so I knew there was unlikely to be a problem with these items, turned out it was a very weak earth connection from the throttle body where it connects to the front of the engine block (drivers side above cam belt cover) this connection has about 6 wires connected into one earth eye fixing and became poor underneath the plastic shrink sleeve. New eye fitted and soldered all in place with no problems since.

    Hope this helps

Thanks Tony. Fairly sure ERROR message is to do with suspension as stated in hand book. This seems to be a common intermittent problem. Actuators are very difficult to get to, particularly rears which I had out when I rebuilt suspension. Emailed Mike, but very busy man, a long way from me and wasn’t able to service my car this year. Have local indi but there not brilliant with 3200, missed stuff that Mike found and expensive.
