I just wanted to make everyone aware of a scam which has resurfaced….
I am selling some Maserati alloy wheels with tyres. I was emailed by a Derek J Remie, showing interest in my wheels. The initial email seemed to be genuine but then further emails were written in a totally different way. He then offered a price and then he stated that he would send a cheque to cover the purchase and courier to pick up the wheels.
It was immediately clear that this was a scam. On searching the internet, this was a known scam and they even used the same name as in previous scams.
Even though I had told him to ‘sling his hook’, I still received a cheque for $8,500 Canadian dollars.
I then contacted Action Fraud and reported the matter.
