The event is a car-based Treasure Hunt around the beautiful countryside of north-eastern and central Hertfordshire intended to celebrate Maserati’s 100 years of racing success; their first competition win being in the 1926 Targa Florio in Siciy. Our Club Treasure Hunt in Hertfordshire is designed as a fun homage to this famous endurance event.

We are planning to start just outside Royston, a convenient location close to where the A505, M11 and A14 intersect, to facilitate those joining from London, the Midlands, and the south-east of England, where there is ample parking, and the Club will be providing a buffet breakfast for the teams waiting to start the Treasure Hunt at the prescribed seven minute intervals. Start times will be provided closer to the day!

Armed with comprehensive route and tulip maps and your clue booklets (which will only be issued at the start) the Treasure Hunt route takes us into the beautiful countryside and villages of north-eastern and central Hertfordshire, passing and stopping at “Maserati places of interest”, while each car team seeks to complete all the Treasure Hunt clues, to win prizes! On the day you will be looking for clues at HR Owen Maserati in Hatfield and stopping to join Andy Heywood and his team at McGrath Maserati for their summer Open Day!

After a trip of seventy miles, for which there is absolutely no time element (take your time to enjoy the countryside, the driving on some interesting roads, and to complete the clues) you will arrive at The Plough in Kings Walden, a location famous for authentic pub food, hospitality and ample car parking where you can relax, wind down and wait for the prize-giving! Cooked food will be available to purchase at the finish location. (The nature of the event, with staggered starts times and arrivals, is an insurmountable obstacle to providing an organised set time meal at the finish).
