80 years of the Grand Tourer Greats – List of Models
The Early GT Foundations (1940s–1950s) These cars were not called “GTs” at the time, but they embody the DNA.
One of the first – 1957 A6G Frua Spider displayed in the Louwman MuseumA6 1500 (1947–1950) Maserati’s first true road car. Pininfarina’s elegant 2-seater coupe. Fast for its era, refined, civilised — the first Maserati GT in spirit.
A6G/54 (1954–1957) Zagato, Frua and Allemano bodied versions. Beautiful, lightweight, dual-purpose road GTs with race pedigree. These two models effectively establish Maserati as a GT maker, not merely a racing constructor.
The Golden Age of the GT — When Maserati Perfected the Formula (1957–1974) These are the “canon” GTs — textbook examples studied by historians. Models include 3500 GT (1957–1964): 3500 GTI & 3500 GT Spyder: (Vignale Spyder), Sebring (1962–1969): Mistral (1963–1970): Mexico (1966–1972): Indy (1969–1975) and Khamsin (1974–1982).
The Exotic GTs — When Maserati Mixed Supercar & GT (1967–1990s) Not pure GTs, but GT-capable with exotic character. Models include Ghibli I (1967–1973): Bora (1971–1978): Merak (1972–1983) and Ghibli II (1992–1998)
Modern Era GTs — The Renaissance (1998–2012) When Maserati returned decisively to the GT category. Models include 3200 GT (1998–2002) and 4200 Coupé / Spyder (2002–2007) 3rd gen GT platform
The Contemporary Icons — True 21st-Century GTs (2007–2020) This period defines Maserati’s GT dominance again. Models include GranTurismo (2007–2019) and GranCabrio (2010–2019)
The Current / Electrified GT Generation (2023–present) Maserati returns to the GT heartland. Introducing the new GranTurismo II (2023–) and Gran Cabrio II (2024-)
And the latest Gran Turismo II 2026 – a truly exceptional Maserati GT.Steve and the Club Team are very much looking forward to welcoming you and your Maserati to the Club event at Salon Prive Supercar Saturday 5th September 2026.
