    Morning All,

I recently took my 3200 GT for an MOT and it failed due to the Rear Exhaust Box having holes in it! When trying to take it off and patch it up, what used to be one piece of exhaust became two.

I am just wondering if anyone has any tips for what exhaust to go for? What sounds good, looks good etc. Looking for something not too aggressive but will still give a powerful V8 sound.

    Kind Regards,

    Henry

    Morning Henry,

Must admit when I replaced the exhaust on my 3200 a few years back, I went for the standard exhaust, as, IMHO it is still the best looking in terms of fit with the car. There are obviously many other makes out there who will tailor the exhaust to the sound you want, but I still think the gentle rumble of the standard exhaust is the best – I know many will disagree!

One point though is to make sure who ever fits your exhaust lines it up properly – many 3200’s look a bit odd with the tail pipes sticking out too far, or not symmetrical – another thing to bear in mind with non-standard exhausts….

    Regards,

    Graham

When I had mine I had Larinis fitted, however I suspect a lot more than your budget,

https://www.mijexhaust.com will build custom exhaust to your liking and much cheaper at around £500.00

http://www.v8wizard.com/Maserati_3200GT_Silenced.php better quality, higher price and much louder sound

Also speak to the Maserati Shed, he might still have stock of the exhausts he had, good quality, price and a good sound.

So it really depends on what sound you are looking for and how much you want to spend.

There is a pair of OEM boxes on eBay for £1307.55 plus £15.05 for delivery if you want a straight replacement.

btw I looked at all of the above before going with the Larinis.

    Evening guys,

I hope you enjoyed the Bank Holiday.

Thank you for replies Graham and Tony. I have gone with the Larini Exhaust as they are in stock and look the same as the originals so shouldn’t have any of the issues with sticking out etc that you said Graham.

Thanks again for the heads up.

    Kind Regards,

    Henry

    Hi Henry,

Yes, good job with the fitting – look nicely aligned!

    Certainly needed doing 😉

Really happy with the sound. Was a bit apprehensive when they arrived to see there was no silencing at all. I guess the clue is in the name: ‘Sport’!ha.

Anyway they are loud but a good amount of loud, not obnoxious at all, with a nice rumble while stationary.

    Henry
