“Hello MOCA Members and Maserati Enthusiasts,
Attached please find details of the forthcoming Raid to the Yarra Valley on Sunday 18th February. If you intend to join us please notify David Zeunert by email by Wednesday February 14th.
And what another fabulous poster from David Zeunert, this time highlighting the amazing Juan Manuel Fangio. Many of you have probably seen the video of what was described as Fangio’s greatest race in the 1957 German Grand Prix, but if you haven’t seen it, this is riveting viewing.

Fangio was 46 years old in this race. At the halfway mark, Fangio, in his Maserati 250F, was 1 minute behind the Ferraris of Mike Hawthorne and Peter Collins. With no further pit-stops by any of these drivers, Fangio caught and overtook the Ferraris to win the race. His average speed for the race was faster than the previous lap record for the Nurburgring (which he held).
Another great (and shorter) video is of Fangio testing the 250F at the Modena Autodrome in 1957. Despite the dreadful road surface, the driving is absolutely masterful and the car sounds fabulous. I particularly love the hands free driving as he adjusts his goggles!

I look forward to seeing you at the Raid.”
