Maserati Club Trackday 2017

← Back to News

Twenty four members and guests turned up on a rather dull and cloudy day for this year’s trackday at Lincolnshire’s, Blyton Park circuit. As has become the norm there was an eclectic mix of cars and everyone had more than enough track time to blow away the cobwebs and in one or two cases, cook the brakes! There were of course the usual smattering of Granturismo and Gransport models, and the earlier 4200’s and a Biturbo. Anthony Bernstein again brought one of his Ferraris and in a spirited session managed to melt the plastic wheel centres, instantly gaining the nickname, Burnup Bernstein! Also featured was an extremely rapid Escort Mk1 Twincam, Douglas Lowndes trailed his track only Lotus Exige for a run out and we even had an Alfa Mito and a new VW Golf R which I can personally testify to being a brilliant track weapon!

Meanwhile some of the non-drivers who had accompanied us at a pre-event dinner in a splendid hotel outside historic Lincoln took part in a partners programme touring the sights and historic buidings (well the shops actually) of Lincoln.

Everybody had a wonderful day and those of us who took advantage of personal instruction from Mark Hales left the circuit wiser and bolder.

Organisers, Geoff Lancaster and David Daw have already booked next year’s event (July 9th) . David will again arrange accommodation, the pre-event dinner and the partner’s programme and Geoff will look after on-track activity. As an added enhancement for 2018, Blyton Park have agreed to let us have access to two tracks, The Outer Circuit in the morning and the tricky, twisty Eastern circuit in the afternoon . Only Maserati Club can offer two trackdays for the price of one!
