I’m a freelance writer for Autocar magazine and was hoping you could help me source a willing owner to join us for a day’s photo shoot later this month.
I’m on the hunt for a used Ghibli diesel to feature in a ‘new versus used’ cover story. It will be going up against a new Ford Mondeo Vignale, the idea being that buyers considering the ‘luxury’ Ford saloon could have something even plusher (and faster) for the same money if they went secondhand.
This is planned to be one of four pairings we’ll feature. All eight cars will be on the cover, then there’ll be a lead double-page spread with all the cars plus 3-4 pages on each pair. The last new vs used special we did looked like this:

The shoot is taking place on 20th October near Huntingdon, and the owner would need to be there from about 10am to 5pm at the latest. A tank of fuel and lunch will be provided, and we’ll send them a copy of the mag and some hi-res pictures of their car for personal use once the story is published.
We’re looking for something worth around £30,000-£35,000, so a 2013 or 2014 car would be ideal – maybe a 2015 with some miles on it at a push. The Mondeo will be dark grey, so a lighter colour would be preferable but I’m aware options may be limited! Previous privately owned cars we’ve featured in these stories include a Jaguar XKR, Ford Focus RS, Porsche Boxster and my own Lancia Delta. We arrange our own insurance and the cars will be driven for photos on a closed complex, then given a 30-minute test drive out on the public road.
