ParticipantIan,
Does that in some way harden the plastic?

ParticipantYes, I’ve had the same issue. I’ll keep trying. If you or anyone else can’t get it to work then let me know and I’ll speak to my contact at Pirelli.

ParticipantSorely tempted by the looks. Can’t figure out why this is so attractive when a Ferrari or McLaren doesn’t interest me! Must be the badge or is there something subtle about the lines. Anyway, I’m definitely up for one if they offer a 0%APR rate over five years!

ParticipantHi David, Be assured we are well up to speed. The Brand Ambassadors are generally the Club Presidents (Chairman in the UK) and any members responsible for International Liaison. There have been a couple of postings on the Club website under News items on the MC20. The car was due to be unveiled to the Brand Ambassadors in Modena later this month but this has now been postponed with no new date published. I think we’re all curious to know which way Maserati is going to lead us in the future and how sensibly sized the cars will be and how competitively priced. I have a feeling that the launch vehicle might be expensive in the same way the Alfa Giulia was launched with the top of the range model. Sadly we are stuck in Corona land at present and who knows when the launch will now be.

ParticipantMy 4200 Spyder was given the treatment as part of the deal when I bought the car (secondhand). It still rather annoyingly gets dirty and needs washed. I’m not too much of a fusspot when it comes to cleaning cars and I can’t say I’ve noticed a difference.
On another note I have given up with chamois leathers and now use drying cloths, the kind sold by all the car prep people. They are longer lasting and, I think, easier to use and go in the washing machine!

ParticipantOh dear that’s not how it should happen. I’ll have a chat with Pirelli when I’m next in touch with them. They are coming to the International and so you can nobble them when there Graham.
I always check the cost against Blackcircles and when I took the discount card into account Pirelli were cheaper for tyres for my Discovery but that was before the offer changed to a fuel card.
If anyone else has issues let me know please.

ParticipantLee, I spoke to Chris and we talked through the issues he had which were rather upsetting as my feeling is that the Club is very open to newcomers. We’ve just spent three months improving the way we greet new members and it’s counterproductive if we then don’t look after existing members who want to come to events for the first time.
The procedure for joining the Committee is in the Club Articles that are available to view on the website. There is no formality in becoming a Committee Member and nominations are accepted at any time subject to approval by the Board (Chairman, Secretary and Treasure). The AGM agenda does ask for nominations and they can come from the floor though it is easier for me if I have some notice. I’m hopeful that Chris will come onto the Committee and possibly undertake a task or two. Similarly I’d welcome one or two more Members joining us. Meetings are every two months and held at Henley-on-Thames at 4.30 p.m. Afterwards we have a light supper and a more social chat.

ParticipantAs Chairman I don’t see any clique or groups within the Club that would cause anyone to feel excluded. In fact we are making a big effort to welcome Members attending their first event and to make them feel at home. New Members are also getting a little priority when it comes to booking events though, that said, they still need to be quick in getting an application into the organiser. Booking early is a point we have made over and over again.
I’m not sure what cars would be seen to be unworthy! At the recent Nene Valley Meeting there was everything for an early 3500 Spyder to a selection of moderns. All mixed up and taking part together.
If anyone has an issue come speak to me and let’s get the culprit trained in good manners and common sense.

ParticipantHi everyone, this was a first attempt by Matt at an in-house production. Its a huge saving on the previous arrangements and we’re sorry for the teething troubles. We agree the chequerboard diary needs revision and some of the print in boxes is bleeding right to the edges. But we’re on the case and your feedback after the next issue would be much appreciated. ParticipantHi all, and I should have added that neither the Maserati Dealers or the Pirelli Performance Centres know about the deal. They just fit the tyres and you use their receipt to claim! John

ParticipantDavid, sorry for the delay in responding but I was away all last week. If you go to page 3 of the News items on the website you’ll find the info on the offer. Click on the link and that should give all the info you need. I have purchased tyres for my Discovery through the local Pirelli Performance Centre (that’s important if you don’t go to a dealer) and simply use the receipt to claim the cash/credit back. If there’s an issue with Pirelli responding let me know and I’ll chase them for you. Use my e-mail [email protected]. Regards, John

ParticipantDespite the gloom about the supply of parts it’s amazing to see that prices for 3200 models are slowly rising. I’d guess that demand will bring suppliers into the market if the cost of the cars justifies the prices they’ll have to charge!
