ParticipantFurther to my posts above the garage discovered that the offside front suspension spring had snapped in a very inconspicuous place (so much so it got through an MOT!) so both springs have been replaced.
The result is that the car now feels much more stable and less ‘bouncy’ but still a little volatile in directional stability. The garage describe it as ‘feeling as if nothing’s wrong, but it’s not right either’.
Some years ago my wife had an Alfa Brera that a garage set to a neutral toe setting (it normally relied on substantial toe out for stable handling and feel) and I’m wondering if I should deviate from the factory settings that have been set on the GT and increase the toe out.
I did say above that the Hancook winter tyres I took off felt better but they did show some minor wear on the inside rim so I suspect the car had some toe out when it was wearing those.
Does anyone have any settings that they’ve tried and found successful that deviate from the factory recommended figures?
Thanks for any advice and help as always.

ParticipantWell to sum up I finished my card to the last penny but it has been a job finding outlets that will print off the form for you to sign. I would suggest only trying to use it at larger retailers.
Once I was aware that you could only present it for the current balance or less I managed to work out the balance and get it down to zero. Sadly that was complicated by Tesco taking four months to present one particular transaction which then finished the card off.
Without being able to check the balance online it would be a real nuisance to use but as a perk for buying four tyres it’s been a reasonable incentive.
P.S. Does anyone want four Hankook winter tyres for a Gran Turismo?

ParticipantPerx reng me back a week after my request to tell me the problem was that I was trying to buy £75 of fuel with £73 on the card. I didn’t realise it and Tesco’s machine didn’t let either the teller or me know what the problem was.
I’m told in future to make sure I ask for a double transaction to clear the balance on their card before topping up with my normal credit card. Let’s hope it works.

ParticipantI have checked that my balance is still active online and spoken to Pirelli who have sent the following reply via email.
I’m glad you’ve been able to log in and view your balance. I’m sorry that you don’t feel that you’ve had the best customer service from them – I will certainly take this up with them as we usually have good feedback.
As I said in my previous email, it doesn’t have to be used on fuel. I think with the PDQ terminals changing constantly, we may need to change the mechanic in the future. I know that if you were trying to purchase something for £100 for example, you’d need to tell them in advance how much was on the card so they can redeem it like a giftcard. I do hope you are able to spend the balance.

ParticipantThanks Eric,
On purchase and over the last two years the car has been stable on the Hankook’s but wasn’t inspiring. The tracking was way out and one front tyre was so far toe in that it’s scuffed the inner edge. Luckily not much as I don’t drive the car daily and have only done a couple of thousand miles a year since purchase.
The tyres are supposed to have been ‘homogenized’ for my car and I’ve checked the pressures since fitting myself. I will check them again.
The speed sensing might be an issue though so I’ll look into that as it does make sense that the steering doesn’t seem to adjust for speed. It tends to feel too light when underway so that might make sense.

ParticipantI’ve had my GranTurismo insured through Adrian Flux for two years for around £500 a year however a recent debacle ensued due to my Bentley having a smashed windscreen and the cover only allowing for a £1000 refund. I had to pay £1430 excess to get a new screen. Despite the Maserati having a different underwriter which clearly stated that all the cost of a screen was covered Flux insisted the cover was similar as they do a private deal with the underwriters to lower their prices. This however was not shown on any paperwork. I am making a complaint to the ombudsman about them.
If Ryanair did insurance brokers, Flux would be the result! Probably the most cretinous outfit I’ve ever used and I should know better as I had a Rolls-Royce covered by them a few years ago and that didn’t end well either.
I’ve now moved onto a multi car policy through Admiral who are covering the GranTurismo for £305 along with my Bentley and Mercedes E350. All prices for each individual car are appreciably lower then single cover prices and the charge is only made when each car commences cover so there’s no paying up front whilst you’re still covered by your existing insurer.
Don’t know how it will pan out of the year but they seem to have a good reputation for customer care.

ParticipantI got it to work once at Tesco who swiped it on their terminal in the kiosk and then got me to sign a slip. However I went back the next day to use it again and it’s now been refused. It’s still got about £75 on it.
Not impressed, especially as my local garage could have got me four P-Zero’s cheaper than my nearest ‘Pirelli Performance Centre’ which actually was a seedy tyre fitting company in another town 12 miles away.
