ParticipantI agree let’s see if we can get that Facebook page more active.

ParticipantI feel maybe the clubs Facebook page isn’t pushed enough in the bi monthly Bulletin.
to illustrate this I was just trying to point out how few members (340) were actually following the club Facebook page.
It would be great to get more activity so I have put a couple of comments on old posts and some images from the classic motor show 2020.
tge weird thing is that even though I have always followed the page I didn’t get any notifications of the previous posts although most are pre 2019.
this forum isn’t user friendly in respect of uploading images so both Facebook & WhatsApp make that easy.
I was trying to cut-and-paste an image from my phone into this forum but find that is a very clunky and difficult thing to do.
you click on the insert image thumbnail and you are faced with having to give an address for the image et cetera instead of just been able to cut-and-paste into the forum.

ParticipantI have not noticed any posts on the Facebook page, I have posted a few times but seems less used than the forum!

ParticipantI agree Simon the Forum is a bit clunky and sometimes you have to try getting the the string you are looking for several times before it loads but it is very good for finding a particular subject, they are gathered there all in one place. Whatsapp is extremely good for general information, chat and images inc videos etc but rather poor when you need to look up a subject say you particular car and a problem with it thats where the forum comes in.
In this modern age I am surprised more people haven’t liked and followed the club facebook page facebook page link
In my opinion It just need a bit more publicity in the printed bulletin maybe an article written about its availability but I am not sure who would organise that Graham woods or Phil Ward as trident editor??? maybe they will pick this link up?
Just for anyone who isn’t conversant with how these thinks work, you can add images but unfortunately you cannot cut and paste directly into the text, it has to be an image that is already saved on your device, you first click on the image thumbnail on the top bar this opens up the pop up imaged below and then choose this file thumbnail to the right to choose the image on your device you would like to add.

ParticipantThis is one of the busier threads which somehow seems wrong?
There is probably an add on that could be used to make posting photos easier.
The Facebook page also seems a bit clunky and slow, or is it just me?

ParticipantI agree
The Facebook page also seems a bit clunky and slow, or is it just me?
I have already this morning sent the message below to who ever is in charge of the facebook group manager because as you say it is very dysfunctional.
Hi I am sending this to see who deals with the facebook messages
You sent Today at 13:27
the page doesn’t seem to be as a group because when you search for maserati uk in the Groups search bar it doesn’t come up. it also seems impossible to add to your short cuts because when you go to edit and search for maserati club uk, once again it doesn’t come up to add it? i used facebook a lot for business and pleasure but am by no means expert enough o sort this out. I think there is possibly something in your administration settings that isn’t ticked. You can also search for the club in the normal top line search bar but that takes you to the results page when normally it would take you to the actual groups posting page, see images to compare. Unfortunately It is very dysfunctional even for an experienced facebook user. I wish I could help but I am not sure what has gone wrong, it certainly explains why no one much is using it.
this is the page you land on if you search for maserati club uk in the normal facebook search bar.

Thai is how diffrent our page looks like when you search for it

This how it normally looks when you search for a page in the normal facebook search bar, it takes you to this page which has the normal blue arrow to click which then takes you to the club posting page.

you land on this page which has the posts on or the invite to visit the group.

This is all very normal and the normal course of facebook action but for some reason unbeknown to me the club facebook page has been set up to function differently and it is very awkward to find your way to the posts without ending up on someone else’s page.
As you probably know facebook page management is in its self an art and I struggle with it as do my staff and we are using it constantly through out the business day.
Anyway lets see if I ever get a reply from the message i sent from the maserati club uk facebook page at least then we will know who reacts to the messaging

ParticipantWhatsApp is probably the only way I’d really be able to engage with the group. It’s a great way for us to all share ideas without the hassle of Facebook and limits of Instagram (both are very cool I’m sure!)
And this forum seems to be so intermittent with its access that I’m amazed I’ve been able to post this!

ParticipantI think to some degree all have a part to play.
For me the Forum should be the main resource, to be honest I have not had any real issues with logging in etc, at least for using the forum. We just need to keep promoting it / attracting users.
WhatApp I think as people have already said would be useful for events and local groups?
With regard to instagram and facebook it just seemed bad to have inactive accounts, worse than not having them as it seemed to imply nothing was going on in the club? It is good to see the club has started to add some photos to the instagram account, I often tag the club in. It would be nice if the Facebook page could be looked at at some point – positive moves so far.

ParticipantI agree with both Stewart
“WhatsApp is probably the only way I’d really be able to engage with the group. It’s a great way for us to all share ideas without the hassle of Facebook and limits of Instagram”
Let us hope the committee actual do read this forum and respond, most have been silent so far, so maybe they don’t use the forum frequently, which sort of proves the point.
I also agree with Lee who points out that the forum should be the main resource but I also know that it has always been there and is still not used as much as you would have thought.
I believe the best way of publicising the forum would be more posts on the facebook page in general but also including comments about the current topics on the forum, along side an active whatsapp group, which might not be for everyone, but I am confident it will get more use than this forum currently enjoys, which itself has already proved “not for everyone” by its lack of contributing members barring this flurry of activity on this subject.
Time to try something else to boost the forum I think???

ParticipantOK – whoever wants to set up the WhatsApp group my mobile is 07976245133
If someone else wants to send me their mobile I’m happy to set up the group and add them. Or WhatsApp me and we can set up the group that way!

ParticipantHi Stewart
I have started a private Maserati Uk club chat whatsapp group and sent out invites to a few, lets see if that gets the ball rolling after all anyone can quit should they decide its not for them. I mistakenly include some members meaning to send out an invite which they could respond or not to but I hope no one is offended, as I say, I can most easily remove anyone upon request.
RegardsDavid

Many thanks20th May 2021 at 2:24 pm #15251Lee Moore
ParticipantGood luck with the whatsapp group and let us know how it develops.
It is good to see there has been a bit more activity on here / facebook and instagram, I hope the momentum continues and increases. Hopefully with things starting to open up, there will be some events etc to report on.
20th May 2021 at 2:54 pm #15252David & Sue White
ParticipantWe are getting there, there are some members who are apprehensive and maybe are not seasoned WhatsApp users who I believe will eventually see the merits of the group.
I will certainly be using it for the organisation of the “Gods own county” rally in Autumn, Yorkshire coast & Moors
