Reading through another excellent Trident (133) I came across the rather splendid image at the top of page 40 but I’m not sure the final paragraph is correct.

I am not aware that Brian ever owned the car.   Being the first member Claire and I met at The Crossroads Hotel back in 1996 I cannot recall him telling us this!  We and the car have been Club members (except for a short absence) since 1995 when I bought the car from a London trader.  Prior to this it was known to Marios of Autoshield as one of his customer’s cars residing in Harrogate from 1993.  The V5 states the car was imported in 1991 though we don’t know by whom and, the VIN code “J” tells us it was built in 1988 although the full chassis number does not fit into the model series according to research carried out by Andy Heywood!  More confusion comes about as Andy’s team recently found some information suggesting it was a UK car that was not sold until 1990.  Was it in fact, a UK car subject to an export sale that might explain the mistaken “declared” 1989 manufacture and assumed original “G” plate, perhaps it was re-imported by the first buyer?

So, can anyone come up with some interesting knowledge of JB290237 from 1988 to 1993?  Will be grateful for anything that helps to complete the history file.

    Many thanks, Howard

Howard – Apologies for the error in my Trident article on The Three Great Counties.  I have sent a separate email to explain.

    Regards
