<p style=”text-align: right;”>A number of the dashboard switches on my 2007 GranSport have become sticky to touch. The rubber is obviously of poor quality. I am going to try applying clear nail varnish, but I wonder whether anyone else has experienced the same issue and has a better solution without going to the expense of ordering new switches.

    <p style=”text-align: right;”>Many thanks, Mike Marshall

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I would do a little more research before jumping in by applying nail varnish as you are unlikely to be able to reverse once applied. In my experience it can be improved by very and I mean very gentle application with make up remover pads. It cleans the dirt off the surface and after several cleans it will dry to a non sticky finish. I use the make up remover pads from the “simple” range. No advertising intended. Give it a try first, it worked on my Jag. All the best Philip new member

A number of items in the 3200 became sticky, steering column shroud, dash vents etc. I gently cleaned them but this left them looking and feeling like hard plastic (but at least not sticky) so I opted to spray them with a soft touch paint.

I used the Plastidip rubber spray (both black and clear} it has been on for a couple of years and achieved what i wanted although i dont know how robust it is or how long.

There is also another product called tactile which was 2-3 times the price, maybe i was being tight or it was just being unsure if spraying the items would work, but would possibly consider trying this if / when the plastidip finish fails.

That being said I have not used it on switches or dials yet.

I can confirm Philip’s approach works, I used Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes on my sticky switches and it worked. A cheap solution so worth a try
