Being a ‘legal’ driver I haven’t experienced this – but Rob noticed whenever he got to 80 and above during our last essential shop the ‘bonnet open’ warning light came on the dashboard light for the door/boot/bonnet. As soon has he went below 80 it went out. Next time out I too must try – any one any ideas?

I’ve never had that although only been over the limit on track. Try pushing the bonnet closed after opening it as there may be some dirt confusing the sensor or the check the bonnet is nice and tight.

You could try some electrical cleaner on the sensor. Otherwise it might require a new sensor, a while back a small bird was taken in through my grill and only found out when I changed the bonnet badge so it’s surprising what gets caught up there.

Thanks for that Tony – I did wonder how well the bonnet had been shut (not wanting to spill beans but Rob did it rather than me!!) – although I would have no idea where the sensor may be)

Try this Annie, if you are facing the car on the left will be the bonnet switch signal, the bonnet should press on this from memory to give the all clear of closing. If you can check and see if this is working ok. Unfortunately I don’t have my GS at home so can’t take a photo, have a look here part number 27.

    Hi Annie,

It’s the same sensor as on the 3200 and they are normally very reliable. As Tony says worth checking it when stationary with the bonnet up and closed and just very gently apply pressure up & down on the bonnet to it to see the point it goes off.  Do you know if the bonnet was removed during Roary’s recent ‘surgery’?

Maybe it is just Roary’s way of asking Rob to slow down…

Thanks for the tips guys – I’ll get Rob on the case. And it is nothing to do with how Rob shut the bonnet – I got it flashing last week too!! – so maybe it’s Roary’s way of saying “thanks – you’re driving me properly”?…..
