    Evening Everyone,

I hope you are all good.

I am looking to organise a service for my 3200 GT for the first time since I have owned it. I live in Norfolk and was just looking for some advise/information from anyone that has found somewhere good in that area? Also general places to use that anyone knows to be good. I don’t mind a bit of travelling, makes a good excuse for a road trip.

    Anyway I look forward to everyone’s thoughts/advise.

    Kind regards,

    Henry

p.s update from my last post about exhausts, I am loving my Larini exhausts 🙂 !

Hi Henry, I had one of these for 10 years so best wishes on yours.

There are a couple of indies I know of up that way,

    https://www.shiltechperformancecars.com a popular indie

http://www.avengineeringltd.com further down, I’ve used them for some minor work as I met the owner at a meet so wanted to see his workshop. He used to work at a Ferrari garage in London so can highly recommend him. Note they are very busy this time of year but it may be worth you speaking to Aldous.

https://www.mcgrathmaserati.co.uk a bit further away but one of the oldest and they specialise in the older cars although they recently started to look after some of the modern ones. I was there earlier in the year and they have a wonderful workshop and small museum so worth a day out to see the cars and bikes on display.

There a lot more but a longer drive, however just as good. If you want to travel further,

http://www.maseratished.co.uk Mike looked after my 3200 for the last three years of ownership. Although a sole trader he knows his biturbo cars.

https://www.emblemsportscars.com really the go to place for all things Maserati on the south coast.

http://www.autoshieldmaserati.co.uk Mario did the inspection on my GrandSport when I purchased it last year.

https://www.giallo.co.uk Give Sharron or Matthew a call I had some work done there, their driver can drop you off/pick up at the local train station.

I had Larinis in my old 3200 and even my wife love the sound. Now I have a unsilenced xpipe and valved Larinis on the GS. Fortunately I bought these used so saved some money.

Let’s us know if you need any more contacts especially in London, I know a few people travel down for work early and leave there car in Chiswick and pick up on route home.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

Thanks a lot for the detailed response and recommendations, a lot to go through and a lot of variety so much appreciated.

This will be for March/April time, just in time for the Goodwood members meeting and another summer of fun. So hopefully should be able to get a booking for the more busy workshops.

    Kind regards,

    Henry

    Hi Henry,

I think Tony has summed up very well the choices for reliable 3200 servicing!

Just a thought though, most of the above would want the car for more than a day (e.g. Emblem, who service my 3200 would need the car for 2 days minimum), so allow for that if planning a trip to one of the more distant Specialists.

What is the current mileage of yours?

    Graham

    Hi Graham,

Ok great, thanks for the heads up. Shiltech is looking quite good if that is the case as I have some friends up near Loughborough that I could stay with.

Just had a look and she is currently on 54800 miles. In doing so I have got another question for the forum about keys and alarms! I shall start another convo now 🙂 !

    Morning all –

I’m a first-time Quattroporte 5th Gen owner (10 years old, 33k miles). Live in North London. Bought the car in March, haven’t run it much, apart from a couple of return trips to Norfolk, due to Lockdown. Just been to Cornwall and back; ‘check engine’ EOBD symbol blinked a couple of times just before reaching home.

Does anyone have any recommendations on who to go to in London? I’m sure there must be a good deal of variation in prices, etc. Can one drive the car to a garage, if the symbol has blinked briefly a coupe of times? Thanks

My Qp5 did this a couple of times and I took it to the dealer who said it happens and normally after using the car and leaving it it would just reset and clear and come back if it happens again

2 years later !! It did and I did the same thing – that was  another 4 years. In between it had been dealer serviced twice and checked which showed nothing to be done. Ignored it after that and that was after car 8 years old.

obviously I can’t say that yours is the same but I have had two different QP 5 and they both have done this at some stage

you just want an independent with the diagnostics for a QP 5 – possibly McGraths or I am sure one of the others in this Forum will give you a name

    Dear Professor Green,

Thanks very much for your helpful remarks. I dare say I was worried about a dealer taking the opportunity to try and frighten me into having some expensive work done. I may talk to McGraths and possibly drive up there slowly and see what their diagnostics kit says.

Scuderia, London (I presume that’s the Bollo Lane W4 address) has been mentioned by member Tony Jaskeran. On reflection, as that’s nearer than Hitchin I may talk to them.

    Regards, Henry

It depends where in London you are

    https://www.scuderia.london near Chiswick

https://autofficina.co.uk just off the A3 in Tolworth

http://www.avengineeringltd.com depending on how far you are from East London.

I’ve used all three over the time.

All of them might do it free if they are not busy so. It only takes about 15 mins, otherwise it’s about £80 to get a print out.

I’ve just been this afternoon to Scuderia.London in Chiswick. They implied on the phone the normal rate for a diagnostic session was £120 + VAT but hinted they would do it for free – perhaps because it’s my first time getting a Maserati seen to. In the event the proprietor spent about 45 mins with diagnostic equipment flushing out spurious error codes and warnings left by previous work with lesser diagnostic equipment – all at no charge, so I’m very pleased with the afternoon’s work. I would definitely recommend them.

I would call that a result ! Good to hear of what is really a goodwill gesture. I am sure this pays off in the long run as It  restores one faith habit  and would make me go back when/if needed on a commercial basis including servicing.

Also – there sounds like as suspected the fault wasn’t a fault per se just the software needing a clear out.

Great news Henry, when using Scuderia I drop off the car and then take the tube into London. I’ve known Karl and Kabir for a long time they said sold me my first 3200 about 20 years ago.

They are very experienced in the prancing horse if you ever want one.

Enjoy your weekend and the QP.
