Hello all. I’m new to the UK, having recently arrived in Lincolnshire after a few years in France. I have a 2002 Spyder that I’ve brought over with me and am looking forward to getting involved in the Maserati scene here. A couple of questions:

    – Old story (I know), but does anyone have a good contact for sticky button restoration?

    – Advice on car service centres reasonably nearby?

    Thanks in advance

    Hugh

Hi Hugh and welcome to the club!

Yes indeed, sticky buttons on 3200/4200 is a classic issue!

I have heard of people using thinner and scraping back any damaged bit, then applying a clear coat (matt finish) lacquer. Needs a bit of faith I think, but if you have a steady hand and patience the results can be very good.

For main dealers you have Graypaul in Nottingham.

McGraths in Hertfordshire are excellent if you want a Specialist. I am sure others may have experiences with others nearer to Lincolnshire.

Howdy Hugh, I’ve been busy recently, there is a chap that others have used on the SM forum [email protected] (Lorenzo) he is based in the USA but does great work. Send him a note with a photo, if you are thinking of doing this yourself let me know and I’ll try to find a related thread for you as some have attempted this.
