New Quattroporte development suspended ??

In the Italian press last few days- some say suspended others say scrapped!

“The Maserati Quattroporte, a name synonymous with elegant and powerful sedans, will not be returning in the near future. Recently, an unexpected announcement shook the automotive world: the M9S project, intended to give birth to the the Quattroporte Folgore, an all-electric version, has been put on hold. This information, revealed by Corriere Torino, raises questions about the electric future of the iconic model.”

That’s a bit of a shock, the QP has done very well since its relaunch. I wonder if this means the Ghibli will be filling the large sedan void.

It’s a shame they haven’t announced a strategy alongside this message to update everyone on what the next step for electric will be.

This reduces the choice so sales must suffer if this option is now not going to be available.

I thought there was only going to be the QP with it replacing both outgoing QP and Ghibli but maybe they have decided that there is no market for a 4 door saloon? or is this just the electric version? There seems to have been a blip in electric sales but thought things had started moving again, maybe Maserati dont see the need to rush.

Would be odd to drop the saloon completely as although SUV’s are the choice for many at the moment, they seen to be on the environmentalists radar these days.
