    Hi All,

As a heads up, the current MOT testing includes a test section on HID headlights and headlight washers. Basically if the headlight washer(s), where fitted, are not working in conjunction with HID headlights being on then this is seen as a Major fault and the vehicle will fail the MOT.

There are quite a few Maserati models with this setup

Also as a word of caution on the type that extends under water pressure i.e. GTs then if the windscreen washer fluid has a low antifreeze level then the water in the jet assembly will freeze and if the windscreen washers are then used at night the pressure at the headlight washer will cause the arm and cover cap to be detached and lost. The arm cannot be purchesed on its own, its the whole pump/jet assembly and a genuine one for the GT is £225 and cover plate is £65.

    regards Eric

    Hi Eric,

I can testify to this. My Quattroporte failed it’s mot  on a blocked headlight washer last year. The dealership initially quoted for a full bumper removal to rectify the fault, but luckily a simple blow through with an airline was suffice.

    regards

Thanks for posting up, especially as the mot is getting more stringent. It’s good to know this so we can keep a careful watch on this area.
I have my service and mot at the same time so the pre inspection can pick up any issues bit not that easy for others where there is a big gap between mot and service</p>
