Don’t know if you have noticed but there  are a couple of new GranTurismo MC from the last (ever) production run up for sale at the dealers. Matte Blue and Grey seems to be the colours. A very expensive paint  option even more than the 3 layer special paint which costs £7200 full price retail–not obviously available —-BUT I have memories somewhere that these matte finishes are also expensive  to repair and doing little stone chips is bit of a nightmare to the extent that whole panels have to be resprayed. Anyone know the reality?

From experience, you can’t polish out Matt paint or use t-cut, if bird droppings are not removed quickly this can cause problems. This paint is very difficult to match up so you need a very good paint shop for any damages so yes you may need entire panels resprayed. A friend had the front end and wings wrapped in clear 3m film especially to help with potential repairs it was expensive to do this but cheaper than fixing any deep stone chips.

Personally I don’t think it’s worth the hassle.

Personally, not keen on the matte finishes – just a fashion trend.

Talking to a detailer friend the other night, he also agreed they are a nightmare and require whole panel (or more) resprays.
