ParticipantHello fellow Maseratisti,
I am rebuilding two 3500 GTs, one of which (101.1128) is all there and extremely original, the other of which (101.1488) is a basket case Frankenstein car that will be made from bits collected around the globe but assembled of course with love, alongside scientific interest.
The engines are in and both are full rolling chassis with the bodies ready to be fitted; so now is the time to fit the other components to the engine bay. However, I’m lacking some references for the locations and specifically the fixing types for some of the bulkhead-mounted components (yes, we didn’t take enough photos before we dismantled 1128). Does anyone own – or know of – a good authentic 3500GT that’s up and together and hasn’t been restored that’s in the UK – and that the owner would be happy for me to visit?
Any help or pointers appreciated. I already have a spare parts manual for reference but would like to get as much of the detail as right as possible.
Thanks 🙂

ParticipantHi Kevin, hats off to you as it must be a huge project. I don’t know anyone with this model. The only thought I have is to speak with McGrath as they look after a lot of the older cars so may know of an owner that can help you.
best wishes
Tony

ParticipantHi Kevin. I have 954 (right hand drive) which is unusually original having been with its last owner, and essentially unrestored, since 1964 and you would be welcome to have a look at it if that might help. The car is in the paint shop at the moment but is normally in Leamington Spa. Regards Greg Dyson

ParticipantThanks Tony. And thank you Greg!
Your car sounds very exciting for being both a left hooker and so original. I’d very much like to make a trip up to see her in Leamington, alongside a couple of colleagues who are helping me put the cars together, perhaps in July? Does a Saturday morning suit? Do email me at [email protected]. Best wishes.

ParticipantHello Kevin,
I have three of these cars, 1292 which I rebuilt myself and which won the club concours last year, 1784 which spent much of its life in California and is mainly unmolested and 904 a RHD car which I am improving and has many original fitments.
I have been improving my cars over the last three years and have gained much knowledge.
I am in South Leicester and only too willing to help.

ParticipantHi all
I have just (yesterday) bought a 1960 3500GT for full restoration (RHD, in good cosmetic nick but hasn’t been driven for years). It is with Barkaways Ferrari. I already have a modern Gran Cabrio. I am interested to “meet” anyone else with one of these stunning cars to leanr and indeed share details of mine which is seemingly in absolutely original condition right now. Thanks.

ParticipantHi Gregg, I’m nearing the completion of my 1964 3500GTi. Slight differences but fundamentally the same. Happy to help in any way I can. Mark

ParticipantHi Gregg. I have a 1960 3500GT chassis number 954. It is restored but, like your car, it was in the hands of one owner for over 50 years so is very original in its detail. I am in Warwickshire and you are welcome to have a look at it if you would like to. Regards Greg Dyson.
