    Hello,

Any recommendation on Insurance broker/Insurance company for best price? The renewal premium from the high street insurer is not as attractive as expected.

    Thanks

I’ve had my GranTurismo insured through Adrian Flux for two years for around £500 a year however a recent debacle ensued due to my Bentley having a smashed windscreen and the cover only allowing for a £1000 refund. I had to pay £1430 excess to get a new screen. Despite the Maserati having a different underwriter which clearly stated that all the cost of a screen was covered Flux insisted the cover was similar as they do a private deal with the underwriters to lower their prices. This however was not shown on any paperwork. I am making a complaint to the ombudsman about them.

If Ryanair did insurance brokers, Flux would be the result! Probably the most cretinous outfit I’ve ever used and I should know better as I had a Rolls-Royce covered by them a few years ago and that didn’t end well either.

I’ve now moved onto a multi car policy through Admiral who are covering the GranTurismo for £305 along with my Bentley and Mercedes E350. All prices for each individual car are appreciably lower then single cover prices and the charge is only made when each car commences cover so there’s no paying up front whilst you’re still covered by your existing insurer.

Don’t know how it will pan out of the year but they seem to have a good reputation for customer care.

The Lockton people are quite helpful with classic insurance specifically for Maserati and all replacement parts can be original. You can limit the miles etc. I found that they were quite accommodating albeit GBP600 a year for 6000 miles on this policy, not as cheap as others here but I don’t know their terms – the devil is in the detail. I have full no claims and am 49 years old for agreed value 40,000 I recall.

Lockton advertised in the Maserati mag for a while not sure if they still do.

    Hi Simon,

I can’t see past Loctons. They are for me very competitive insuring a number of cars together including our daily drivers.  There’s no charge for changing, adding or removing cars during the year and they have this amazing ability for you to drive any other car and be comprehensively insured.  And in return you can let anyone over 35 drive your car and be fully insured with no need in either case to go to Lockton’s for approval.

    Hope that helps.

Agreed, I am with Locktons and with their new schemes they provide excellent services at rates better than most others.

Unlike John though, they refuse for me to have our non Maserati daily drivers on my policy – not quite sure why, the others are only everyday Alfas.

I’m not sure whether Hagerty would accept a modern Maserati but their rates are good. It depends a lot on where you live and the car storage facilities. You can also supply your own photo’s for an agreed valuation.

    Cheers – Keith

My £154 with the NFU for 4000 miles includes a £250 voluntary excess and a £250 sports vehicle excess plus a £50 dock for glass replacement that’s for two named drivers. We have quite a number of vehicles with them

Ive had 2 windscreens done on my Grancabrio – both insurance claims. The first one that had nothing about windscreens in the policy – I was living in HK and it cost near £4000 equivalent. Second time, they still hadn’t covered their behinds but managed to get it down to £2700 equivalent if I recall. Probably a £2000 job in the UK? Not sure, don’t want to find out! But again my (and yours?) insurance seems to have not covered themselves adequately.

Thank you for the useful feedback. I am currently with Admiral and their renewal premium is close to £800. Tried AF, NFU and Locktons and are between £500-£600, with Privilege from Go Compare’s panel lowest at just over £400 so may just go with them.

My experience echoed feedback – found AF call centre unprofessional and asked too many irrelevant questions, whilst both NFU and Locktons are courteous and helpful, with many extras included in the policy as standard to be fair.

I’ve just switched from Privilidge to Cherished Vehicles – I’ve just paid £260 for an agreed value of £25k on my 02 4200 spyder that’s done around 86000 miles (It’s just had many many issues sorted by SportsItalia who are very thorough) but mileage is limited to 7500 and no commuting.

Lockton are going to give a talk on the Club scheme (NOT a sales pitch) on the 27th Oct. An hour long session with Q&A, so if you do have any questions join in.
