Any recommendations on breakdown cover in Europe please. There are the ‘standard’ options of RAC / AA / Green Flag but wondered if the group had any better informed options?
Last time I took a classic to europe I initially struggled to find cover but on speaking to my insurance company who provide breakdown cover as part of the policy, they increased it to euro cover for just a few pounds more, this was prior to brexit but worth a check?
My vehicle insurance policy with Lockton includes UK and european breakdown cover as standard. They aren’t the cheapest but the cover is very good and the service has been excellent (in the UK) when I needed them.
I agree with Simon plus the charges seem very reasonable when I am covered to drive anyone else’s car with the owners permission – bring on your supercars please no risk!
We got AA breakdown cover through a Nationwide account – and used it sadly. They are all reluctant to transport our beloved cars back to the UK but they did – ours took about 6 weeks to be repatriated (two others who also broke down on the same trip took longer and I can’t remember who they were with). It took them about three months to pay the other costs we incurred as a result of the breakdown including car hire and replacement Swiss motorway vignette we had to buy (the original was on the car’s windscreen!!)
