I know I never pay proper attention and because of this nearly came a cropper last week.  Fifteen miles from home en route to the Yorkshire Rally the red light on the dash of my Indy came on.  Odd I thought as the oil pressure is fine.  I asked Susan to call Andy at McGraths who thankfully answered the phone on the first ring.  Stop right away and don’t move the car he said – that’s not the oil pressure warning light but the brake pressure warning light for the Citroen brakes!  By then I had slowed and turned to a kind of lay-by on the opposite side of the road and when I now went to stop nothing happened!  No brakes.  Luckily it was a level road and I pulled onto a side road on a flat space where we gently came to a halt!  Now I know and if you have a car with Citroen brakes the big red light in front of the steering wheel is the brake pressure light and you have only one chance to stop!  Phew.

Great weekend with great roads and great food and refreshments!

That was a close call. Had the brake light come on once in the 3200 but I recognised it straight away.
Glad to hear all ended well, it’s strange that they just went so quickly.

Once something lets go it often looses pressure quickly, always thought it odd that warning lights are not more obvious, I seem to think the the brake warning light on the capri is orange (should really remember) and is therefore obviously different to othe lights. Is it just a Maserati thing that we think oil pressure when a warning light comes on?

Very different with the Citroen era LHM system. As John says, with that and the big red/orange light comes on (it is very obvious – certainly on the Bora/Merak) you have one chance only!
