    Good evening, all,

I have a 2002 4200 GT, which I absolutely love, but she’s got a slight issue – I opened the fuel cap cover using the button in the glove box, but, after fuelling up, the cover won’t now close!  Currently held shut with BluTac, but I would rather not have this as my permanent fix!!!

What should I check first, please?

Any and all advice/assistance gratefully received.

    Many thanks (in advance),

    Steve…

    Steve,

Had this happen on my 3200 about 5 years back and found the black catch holding the filler cap closed was sticking in and not springing back out.

I managed to get it to released by applying some plus gas to the catch where it passes through the body seal grommet and working it back and forth with thin nosed plyers until it was springing back freely.

If it won’t pull back out it will be a case of removing the boot internal side panel, removing the solenoid unit and freeing up off the car. One other thing to check is that the emergency release cord (red) inside the battery cover at the front is not caught on some thing and holding the solenoid in the open position.
