For the past few months the oil pressure gauge has consistantly moved to and remained on 5 bar which I took as incorrect.  Now on start up, it behaves more normally by moving to 2.5>4 bar and then, when oil is up to temperature after 5 miles or so, drops to 0 > 1 bar triggering the warning light in the gauge and an ” oil warning” message on the dashboard.

I sense an oil pressure sensor issue and given their general unavalability, guess it is common.

    Any ideas anyone?

    Hi David,

Yes, indeed, a common problem with 3200s.

In 16 years of ownership I am on my 3rd sender.

Mine reads 5 bar until warm, then drops to a consistent 3.5-4 bar and every once in a while will go into a frenzy for a minute or so as the gauge flicks from 0 to 4 and all over the place and then settles down again.

When I got a new sender, it would be absolutely fine for a few years (between 3-5).

Obviously, this is something which is important to work properly, but with availability issues etc. we just have to live with.

I believe there may be ‘other solutions’ available.

My 3200 was exactly the same, it gets so hot in the engine bay a lot of these parts suffer. I bought an after market one from David Askew a few years ago might be worth seeing if he has any left.

Same here, I have a David Askew replacement – so far has permed ok although reads high, but prefer that to the jumping around!
