ParticipantHello
does anyone have experience of diagnostic tools for the Maserati 3200GT specifically and later vehicles if possible?
I imagine I’m not the first person to ask this but the diagnostic tool world is constantly evolving. Any recommendations based on experience would be much appreciated. Thanks

ParticipantOnly ever used the Unidiag download, dont really understand it but did help at the time – to be honest I was a bit scared of messing things up but should look into it a bit more unless there are now better alternatives?

ParticipantI have copies of the Unidiag Software and original cables for the pre ODB cars which don’t have the 16 pin ports. Also the connection instructions. These are asynchronous files so you need an older laptop I used Windows XP.
There used to be a Unidiag group on Yahoo but this has now created, however I downloaded the entire history to keep a copy of problems and trouble shooting.
The file included are for older Alfa cars also. So they can work for other Fiat cars. Every year via the other forums I send the software to about a dozen new owners.
Currently I’m not aware of any modern diagnostic units that will work. I’ve heard there is a Chinese alternative but so far no one I know has got it to work.

ParticipantHello Tony, thanks for your post. My 3200gt being a 2001 car has an OBD2 port, I have previously connected to it using an old-ish Gendan OBD2 setup and I seem to remember I was able to read something but it was a long while back, I don’t think it went very deep. I have also the Fiat multi ECU scan kit also from Gendan which I have used with success on various Alfas but it tends to run in a dedicated manner for each model (is this worth trying?) I use it on an old laptop but it is now running Windows 10 (slowly). I also have a PC that runs XP Pro which I could use at a pinch with unidiag. I suspect that unidiag may not be right for my car and I know nothing about it but I will have a look to see what I can find out. If you can point me toward the download and history source I would be grateful. Any idea which Chinese scantool? There are some out there which seem to be quite good. Many thanks

ParticipantHi Chris,
email me you address on [email protected], I will send you the files and some instructions.
As you have a 2001, you should be able to use a standard ODB but will only be able to read the codes not reset them.
The Unidiag field will enable you to do more but can be trouble some getting the connection. There was more than one type of ECU on the 3200 & my files are over 15 years old. However 9/10 people I send the girls to manage to get it to work.
The files were originally created by an owner in Holland, there used to be a yahoo group to exchange messages but this has been closed down now. I do have a history of the messages but it’s very time consuming to sift through.
Try the files as a start.
BW & happy holidays.Tony
