Hi Tom,
This is common with pre 2019 GTS as the electronic systems tend to drain the battery (especially if you have the older Vodafone tracker system active) and when it gets to 12.3v all sorts start to fail, the electronic handbrake for one. The norm is power on, do not crank, power off then on again with the footbrake firmly pushed down and do not crank, then off then on with the footbrake depressed and crank. it will start and the electronic handbrake should disenage.
If it gets below 12.3v then this will not work and even the electric boot release will not open so you will need to use the manual release under the nearside rear seat side panel. Then charge up the battery and utilse the above procedure.
Best way to avoid is to have a CTEK MXS 5.0 auto charger, this is what all the main manufactures use (Ferrari, Bently, Porche etc. even Maserati) but they badge them their own logos and charge from from £275 upwards! A CTEK on the web is about £70 and not only will it charge but will recondition the battery, then drops into a low trickle charge which can be left on all the time.
I use to have mine on all over winter with the unit in the boot. If yours has the charging point it with fit straight in otherwise there is an adaptor that fits on the battery and has the charge plug on, I use to have this come out under the boot shelf and just plugged in.
regards Eric
