Hi Robert,

Accordinging to Longstone classic Tyres:-

Maserati Merak 2000 (1977–1979) : 185/70 VR 15 Michelin XWX front, and 205/70 VR 15 Michelin XWX rear.
Maserati Merak (1973–1975) – 205/70VR15 XWX front, 205/70VR15 XWX rear.
Maserati Merak SS (1975–83) – Originally fitted 195/70VR15 XWX front, and 215/70 WR 15 Michelin XWX rear.
The 195/70VR15 Michelin XWX is no longer manufactured. We recommend fitting 205/70VR15 Michelin XWX on the front of a Merak SS.
For 185/70-15 tyres the Michelin 15E is the correct innertube.
For 205/70-15 tyres we offer the Michelin 15F innertube.
The Michelin 15/17H will be the best fitting innertube for 215/70-15 tyres.
Our period Innertube Guides suggest which models of the Merak were tube-type, and which models had tube-type wheels. See below to find your year and model.
For more information, see our dedicated innertube page.
Maserati Merak tyre pressures – 32psi front and 36psi rear.

Looking at that for your year, 1977, they have upped the fronts from 195 to 205, as 195 no longer available, so assume done the same to rears i.e. 215 to 225. I guess the handbook would only cover the tyres of the time.

regards Eric
