ParticipantHi, I’m trying to sort out some electrical gremlins on my 1974 4.7 Indy but without the aid of a wiring diagram. Does anyone have a diagram or one for me to copy ? Any help would be much appreciated.

the club has available Indy Manuals (drivers and parts manuals). Go to the Market tab, then choose the Merchandise tab and go to page 6. The Parts manual would have circuit diagrams as well as explosions of how evrything fits together, but be warned, they are only photo copies of originals. I have however found a PDF of the circuit diagram which I shall email to you.

ParticipantGordon,
There is also an Indy wiring diagram in the ‘Resources’ section of the website (select ‘Swinging 60s’ –> ‘Manuals’).
It is not brilliant, but may help

ParticipantGordon, I have sent you scanned pages from my Owners handbook giving the wiring diagram, plus the earlier pages with the number codes. The wiring diagram is in 2 parts.
Hope this helps – Keith1st May 2019 at 7:41 pm #9595gordon-walton

ParticipantHi all. The hunt for gremlins continues. The refurbished motors for the front windows work well (speedily up and down) when connected to a direct supply from a battery but are weak and lethargic when operated from the window switches. I’ve dismantled the switches and cleaned the contacts and checked that the limit switches are not cutting in all to no avail.
Are there some relays tucked away that aren’t contacting or could it be an earthing problem?.There’s no diagram relating to the windows in the hand book.
Any help would be appreciated. Gordon Walton

There are other manuals here and later supplements – i know very little of this model but perhaps there is something here for those who know the model
If you go to this one and back to carnet the others are closely in the list. Downloadable free.

ParticipantGordon, if you have not already done so check the fusebox, I have had endless electrical glitches all caused by poor fuse connections…

ParticipantThanks to Prof Christopher Green and Graham. I’ll have another attempt at it when I’m back from holidays.
Kind regards, Gordon Walton

ParticipantGordon, my Indy was re-wired with a new fuse box (blade type fuses) the earlier ceramic backed ones probably need a turn or two to make good contact. Best remove them, pinch in the uprights and then re-seat.
Check for 12 volts at the motors when all is joined up. There are also thermal cut-outs in these circuits – another reason to check for good joint contact.
Cheers – Keith -
