ParticipantMorning All,
I went to go have a quick check of my 3200 GT this morning and couldn’t turn off the alarm with the button on the key. I suspect the battery is dead. There was no noise, just blinkers on and it didn’t stop me from being able to start or drive it.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to switch it off without using the key? Also if anyone knows of a place around Norfolk area that can assist with keys issues as I have found that the battery is welded to the motherboard. So it isn’t going to be an easy change of battery as I had hoped.
Kind Regards,
Henry

ParticipantI’m not sure if you can switch off the alarm without the key, from memory fuse 8 the red 10 amp is for the alarm system control. Check the fuse page in the car manual, remember if you are going to attempt disabling the alarm then open the boot and lower the windows. Assuming the car is garaged.
The batteries should just drop out so someone has probably done this as they were loose, you could try a local jeweller and see if they can carefully remove both batteries.

ParticipantAmazing what some people do without thinking through the consequences…. soldering a battery in place really is not an ideal solution.
Normally, you do get good indication of the batteries running low by having to get closer to the car to unlock it (that is my experience), so it could be something else.
Do you get the problem with your second key?

ParticipantSorry I forgot to click the notify box so have only just seen this. Thanks for your suggestions. I did think it pretty strange that it was soldered on, didn’t think that would be the standard.
Anyway I had a look at my second key and it has the same soldered on battery, however, we have some short term success as that battery obviously hasn’t died and locks/unlocks the car without any issues. At least I now know the issue so can look into getting the soldering sorted and replace the battery.
Thanks again for the assistance.

ParticipantHi Graham,
I hope younare well.
I haven’t investigated how I am going to get the batteries out yet. Left it after I found the other key and it worked. So I know it is a battery issue, nothing more major than that.
Will let you know how I end up removing and replacing etc.
