ParticipantHi all,
I’m not sure whether people are interested but one of my hobbies, as well as driving, is playing with video and I’ve been trying to up the sophistication of those I take from the car. I working on short videos around North Yorks at the moment in preparation for our trip out to the Alps later in the year.
Here is my latest effort: https://youtu.be/y0huJ7m-bug
I’m thinking of running another camera for the parade lap at the Silverstone Classic, and will post the video for that afterwards if people are interested.

ParticipantExcellent Mick!
Look forward to seeing the Silverstone Classic lap, as for the first time in 14 years we have not been able to make it.
Really good quality video…. what bridge?

ParticipantThe bridge is Alwark Bridge in North Yorks.
I did some testing of a rear facing camera earlier. That should work well to give an alternative angle. It picks up the exhaust really well too.

ParticipantCan’t wait to see the results. Real shame we cannot make Silverstone this year……

ParticipantFirst attempt with a camera on the bumper to capture the exhaust and some interesting angles https://youtu.be/-1JzSfiopuw

ParticipantNice one Mick! Obviously early in the morning judging by the shadows.
I assume the strange word written in the road every now and then (anagram of lows) means press the ‘loud’ pedal……

ParticipantI assume so. I didn’t really take the time to work them out whilst I was driving.
It was around 8 am. I used having the test the camera setup as an excuse 😀
I was very pleased with the sound pickup from the exhausts. I hadn’t realised just how loud it was with the valves open.

ParticipantDid a bit of back road driving going to a local Cars & Coffee event yesterday. Ironically it was at a detailing company premises given how dirty the car got on the short trip

ParticipantGlad to see that at least one of the three cars you caught up with had the courtesy to turn off and get out of the way!
I wonder of you can get windscreen wipers for GoPros?
9th October 2017 at 9:32 am #5848Mick Sheppard
ParticipantI was wondering about a wiper setup. Seems like I’d need some sort of F1 like setup with a film in front of the lens that rolled across periodically. Haven’t seen one I wonder if there’s a market for that sort of thing?

ParticipantI have found some motorised systems to roll a film in front of the lens. It would mean having to push the side camera further out from the wing which would increase the possibility of clipping it on something/someone as I drive past. I’ll just have to remember to stop to clean more often.

ParticipantLast weekend we decided to take a trip to Whitby via the moors. The weather was great and it was good to have some fun in the Ghibli again.

ParticipantWhat a glorious day for the drive! Really nice with the frosty scenes. A great driving road.

ParticipantWe are blessed to live in a lovely part of the country. The start of that drive is 15-20 minutes away. It was unusual to find so little traffic on it and also that the road stayed clear of sheep.
