ParticipantGood morning
My QP V Sport GTS has some stone/chip damage just in front of the rear wheels. I had this resprayed a few years ago but has resurfaced.
Does anyone have experience with this? I understand there are ‘plastic strips’ that can be attached between door and wheel to prevent paint being damaged again and again.
Can anyone help or refer me?

ParticipantGood day to you,
A similar problem I had a few years ago, I opted to have some high quality protection film on that part of the car. The plastic strips that were available at the time were fiddly to install.

ParticipantThank you Tony, did you purchase the protection film from a third party or did you have it made to measure or…?

ParticipantAt the time I asked a wrapping company to do it, this time I would do it myself. You need a steady hand and very sharp tools. Also I would recommend 3m https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/car-wrapping-uk/paint-protection/.
The reason I would do it myself now, is that I have put up some frosted film in a couple of windows so have a bit of experience of lining it up and ensuring everything is nice and clean.

ParticipantThank you Tony
In addition, do you have any experience with Ceramic Pro or G-Technic or similar products. I am considering have my car treated with that.

ParticipantI had G Technic on an earlier GranTurismo I am not saying it didn’t work BUT I did have to use the Warranty twice in the first year where bird droppings ruined the coating very quickly. I checked every evening and it proved that from one day to the next was time enough to cause a problem. I traded it in after 18 months so cant report on longevity. The G Technic area manage in southern England was very helpful and they didn’t argue and rectified very quickly. It seemed to me from volume and visual observation that it was Seagulls rather than some other species that was the offending Genus.

ParticipantI too have a QPV GTS so admire your exquisite taste. The protective film on the rear arches is often not re-applied after resprays and is essential to prevent re-occurrence. I would get a wrap company to do it, as my Maserati specialist only managed an OK job (7/10/) as it is tricky to do without wrinkles etc…

ParticipantThank you. Your profile picture indicates we probably have the same type. Mine is of 2010.
I will contact a local wrapper to fit the protective film.

ParticipantHi Stephen
Do you know whether there is a QP V register? Enrico’s page seems not to have one.
Secondly, do you know of any specific books about the QP V? I saw one online issued in 2003 by Maserati but that appears sold out.
I am particularly interested in the 56 design awards the QP V has picked up along the way…

ParticipantMy QPV suffered the same. A rash on the front of the rear arches.
A generic issue with them. I had plastic strips fitted which did the job admirably. Looks like Tony may have a new line of business!
Be interesting to register here books on the QPV. I would buy one, but do not know of any.

ParticipantThanks Graham
Have contacted Maserati about it. Let’s see what they come back with.
It may mean writing one myself…

ParticipantI had a 2006 Duoselect Sport GT from new for 5 years and then in 2011 i ordered a new Sport GTS in dark green delivery Jan 2011 which has been a joy. I have never found any complete books apart from the Factory Workshop Manual via the Maserati Technical site where you register and pay for a day access and download as much as you can in 24 hours and also there is a 3rd party DVD workshop manual you can download on the web.
If anyone finds out of any books would be interested to know.

ParticipantOn books – I have the 100 years Maserati book and the Maserati Quattroporte The History by Jurgen Llwandoski – both available on Ebay.
On the Awards, the only place I know where they might be listed in one place would be the literature associated with the Awards edition model
Good luck
