New member – however 3200GTA owner for 12 years.  Car has been extensively worked on and maintained by Autoshield.

Currently either getting start up and car runs idle no response on acceleration or car runs in limp….every other time it is fine and runs ok…..throttle issue…any views?

Hi Carlton, welcome, I had one for about 12 years, still miss it. Sorry I’ve been quite busy in London today hence only reading this now.

This could be a number of things, I’m finding it a bit difficult to understand all the symptoms.

Is this problem erratic, as you mention it also runs fine.

Assuming its erratic first thing to do is get the car to a diagnostic reader so the stored error codes can be viewed. Where are you geographically.

My first thought is the throttle body, then potentiometer, have you tried a throttle reset. You could take the hoses off and check if the butterfly is moving freely.

I would also check all the hoses are not loose as a start.

Just to add, if your car is a late 3200 you can get OBDII diagnostic code readers for not a lot (£15-£30 for decent ones) these days and get the error codes. It will have a standard OBDII cable with the 16 pin female connector hanging under the steering wheel. All cars produced after 1st Jan 2001 must have the latest OBDII standard (EOBDII – the European version).

I use an app on my phone connecting via Bluetooth to my OBDII reader – works a treat.
