The Maserati Club 2nd Annual Concours D'Elegance took place once again in conjunction with the Auto Italia Festival in the majestic grounds of Stanford Hall near Lutterworth in Leicestershire on Sunday 26th May 2002.
This was the largest gathering of Maserati cars, outside International Meetings, ever seen in the UK with around 90 cars present. The splendid turnout was a credit to the organisers and the enthusiasts who made the effort to show up. Well done to you all!

Maserati grey matter, but what's going on in the marquee?
The forecasters had promised poor weather and for once they didn't get it wrong for all morning we were 'blessed' with constant showers. No sooner had the contestants 'chammied down' their cars when the heavens would open up again and the hard work would commence once more. Unfortunately this continued for most of the day and to the credit of those taking part, they stuck to their task and the cars were well presented.
At lunchtime we all took a break and thanks to some foresight on the part of Simon Lees Milne, who had organised a splendid barbeque, we ate our lunch in the comfort of a marquee, where over 120 guests sampled a real treat!
Star of the show was a stunning A6 2000 Coupé by Pietro Frua, what a car! It has recently undergone a complete restoration with the bodywork carried out by Jim Henshaw and the mechanics by Bill McGrath Maserati.
I will not be publishing any results of the Concours as they will soon be appearing in the Club Newsletter and Trident magazine. |
